June 5, 2008

This shit is seriously fucked.  Just peep the video…

“Hartford police released a surveillance video that shows a 78-year-old man, who was struck by a car, lying motionless on a busy city street as pedestrians gawk but do nothing” – AP

Crooks & Castles X Vans

June 2, 2008

Crook & Castles have teamed up with Vans to make this sick Gucci-Inspired sneaker.  This has been rumored for a while and now we have visual proof.  Currently these beauties will only be available for viewing at the Crooks store in LA, and there is no word on a release date.  However, another colorway is expected to be released to the general public.  Stay tuned to the Crooks Blog for more info…

Nike Air Stab “Runnin’ Gunnin'” Quickstrikes

May 23, 2008

Among all the hyped up releases that Nike has dropped over the past couple years, the Air Stab is a retro that is constantly being released in sick colorways, as a part of dope packs, and for the most part they are easily available.

You might want to act fast on these, however… The “Runnin’ Gunnin'” Stabs are set to be a QuickStrike release, yet no date has been set just yet.

The materials and colors of these are ill.  Black Elephant Print leather, canvas and a mesh toebox which  I’m sure puts a smile on the faces of all you sneaker fiends out there… The official colorway of these kicks is black/infrared, but in the picture it looks more like a magenta.

Whatever the color, these are dope…

Props to for the info…  Stay tuned to their release dates page for a drop date

Rock The Bells 2008

May 18, 2008

Since 2004, Guerilla Union’s Rock The Bells hip hop festival series has made history every year, re-uniting some of your favorite groups.  It started with Wu-Tang’s first show with all 9 original members present in some 10 years, and it was ultimately their last such show, with ODB passing later that year.  Since then, the Rock The Bells stage has brought back A Tribe Called Quest and Rage against The Machine 7 years after they broke up.

This year brings the return of the Pharcyde, along with the standard Rock The Bells lineup of hip hop legends, It’s so ill how Guerilla Union assembles such a crazy lineup of artists every year

The New York show is August 3rd at Jones Beach.  Tickets are on sale now!

To see a complete list of tour dates, buy tickets, see artist bios and videos and other info hit up the Rock The Bells offical website,

Posse In Effect!

May 13, 2008

Since the very beginning of hip hop, the Posse Cut has been a tried and true staple of the genre.  Theres just somethin about MC’s from different groups and crews coming together to murder a track that makes for classic material.

It’s such a staple, in fact, that it has almost become a cliche and watered down, but what hasn’t in hip hop nowadays? but I digress… Despite how it is today, Over the years there have been some classic records that have made history, started and squashed beefs, sparked trends, bobbed heads and made peaople say “dddaaaammnnn!”… Here are some of the greatest Posse Cuts of all time..

1. Heavy D. ft. Kool G Rap, Grand Puba. CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, Pete Rock, Q-Tip – Don’t Curse

Aside from being a dope Posse Cut, its got a cool concept, and props must be given to Heavy D for getting Kool G Rap to spit a verse without cussin’… And this is the guy who spit some of the nastiest rhymes ever in “Talk Like Sex”

2. A Tribe Called Quest ft. Leaders of the New School (aka Busta Rhymes and some no-names)- Scenario

Tribe.  Busta.  Powerful Impact BOOM!! From the Cannon!

3.  Chubb Rock, OC< and Jeru The Damaja – Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers ’95

Minimum number of MC’s on a Posse Cut is 3 in my opinion…and these three are some of the best to hail from the Boro of Brooklyn.  Backed by a beat from THE best to ever do it, DJ Premier

4. Fat Joe ft. Nas, Jadakiss, Big Pun, Raekwon – John Blaze

So far on the list we moved from late 80’s legends to early to mid 90s classics, here we move into the mid-late 90s era.  Each of these MC’s were in their prime on this one, spittin that hot fuego… And here we present the original DJ Premier mix, which is crazy and far superior to the single version..

5. LL Cool J ft. Method Man, Redman, Can-i-bus, DMX, Master P – 4, 3, 2, 1

DOPE beat, crazy, bugged video, beef and drama with LL and Canibus, and every MC on the track was at the top of the rap game at that point in time.  This shit was a SMASH

6. The D&D All Stars ft. Doug E. Fresh, KRS-One, Fat Joe, Smiff-N-Wessun, Jeru The Damaja

To finish off the list, we got a track that has alot in common with the others posted here… DJ Premier beat, Fat Joe, Jeru…  I may be predictable, but I know the formula for a certified classic haha… And all these tracks follow the formula down to the last detail…  I wonder if hip hop like this is ever going to be made again?  It’s sad, but we still have the classics..

My Future Wifey…

May 7, 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Byata…

Byata is a sexy, Russian-born, Brooklyn-bred female MC who currently can be seen doin her thing on the VH1 series “Miss Rap Supreme“, which we first covered here on Turd Press back in March.

And unlike most female MC’s in the game today, she can actually rhyme!  I first heard this Coney Island Cutie spit some darts on the Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture record a few years back and was instantly impressed.  Already being down with the Wu-fam, and already having dropped an album (Which you can buy here, first 100 people to cop the Cd and drop their digits will get a phone call from Byata herself according to her myspace page), she is now looking to use Miss Rap Supreme to gain national attention, and I have a feeling she’s going to.

All that talent, style and fine looks and BK swag seriously makes me weak at the knees, yo!

If you havent peeped Miss Rap Supreme yet, get caught up at and tune in Monday nights at 10 PM.

If you wanna hear some of her stuff, here’s two tracks from the Wu-Tang Meets the Indie Culture album:

Slow Blues ft. Byata, Prodigal Sunn, Timbo King & Vast Aire

Street Corners ft. Byata, Solomon Childs & Bronze Nazareth

Trust me folks, she is just waitin to blow up!  Don’t sleep!

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick

April 22, 2008

Haha, I love this shit right here!

Streetwear powerhouse LRG from Cali and Long Island boutique EastWestWorldWide link up on this homerun of a collabo by flipping the classic Mr. Met mascot!

The jersey says “LRG”, the bat says “EastWest” and I say I’m copping this joint!  I feel it’s my obligation both as a die hard Mets fan as well as a hypebeast…

You can only cop these at , so hurry before they’re going, going, gone!….sorry

Hilary Duff is the slut, BONG!

April 7, 2008

This is a scene from the upcoming flick, “War, Inc.”

Hilary Duff doing a belly dance, droppin a scorpion down her pants, and some guy in a turban goin down there to fish it out?!?! I’m seeing this movie

A far cry from “Lizzie McGuire”, indeed…

Reggie Noble, Hardcore Gamer

Roll it!….(light it and smoke it)

Tees Steez

April 3, 2008

Spring time is here, the weathers gettin warmer, almost T-shirt weather, so it’s time to step your game up.  Like Mos Def said:

“Now everybody know what the spring time is about
Players polish up they game cause the shorties be out
I was rocking jew-els and my wears was crisp
My man said there was a jam that I shuould not miss”

We got you covered here at TurdPress, so here are some choice selections from the Spring/Summer collections of some of streetwear’s heavy hitters.

Premium Label

A clusterfuck of fashion and pop culture references in this one…Gucci, Vogue, Luis, Kate Moss…and Kanye!  Dope shit from Premium Label

Cop it here:

Now as much as I love to put somethin in the air, I tend to think pot leaves on tee shirts is kinda tacky and childish.  But this fresh spring tee from Crooks & Castles has a nice subdued leaf print on a light V-neck with clean “C” logo on the front… However, if you want to make a statement and proclaim your love of the sticky green, just turn it inside out!

Get your smoke on at

Somewhat of a streetwear cliche, rap lyrics on shirts has gotten a bit old.  But Lemar and Dauley stick a classic Prodigy line on the back of this one and add a clever graphic on the front.  With the H.N.I.C having recently began a 3 year bid, fans can scoop this one to support the god P.

Another one from

Jeffrizzle gave y’all the heads up on 10Deep spring last week.  I personally think the collection is hit or miss, but there are some real dope pieces and this is one of them.  Cool flip of their classic (and trademarked) brass knuckles logo on the front, and a simple yet powerful statement on the back.

Cop at or any other 10deep retailer.

Blaow! Big Alife logo almost jumps off the shirt right at you.  I’m really feelin the red/white on purple colorway.  The color purple has forever been linked with royalty.

Live like a king at … For the Greater Good

Mishka continues to be on some other shit… Their classic Bear/Snake “Death Adder” mascot has been given the vampire treatment and is now a mash up of a Bear, a Snake and a Bat.  A bugged out tee indeed, but this is tame compared to most of their collection.  It’s not for everyone to say the least, but they are one of the most original labels out right now.

Scoop it at

So there you have it, some of my favorite tees that have dropped recently for the Spring.  Hit up all of the shops listed to cop more heat for the Springtime!
